Favourite Things

Hi everyone.
I hate to admit that i haven’t been using or updating my blog for quite a while. I want to thank my readers who continually visit this website in the hope that they might, one day, see a new post. Ha-ha. I’m so sorry. I actual can’t believe I've not typed a blog for months.

Today though, i want to share some of my favourite things. Just 10 things that i hold really dear to me. I will say this though: this doesn’t include family or people okay? Just things. things!

PS. You will also be glad to know that yes, i did indeed get promoted at my work! Go me!!!

So here goes…

Number 10
Mulled Wine Christmas Candle
This is one of my “look forward to” Christmas moments. I love lighting a few of these on Christmas Eve and just relaxing with Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas II You album jingling away in the background, and watch their sweet aromatic little flames deliver that sticky Christmas incense! Delish!

Number 9
’Bleak House’ by Charles Dickens
This novel always inspires me to write. It deals with an interesting array of complicated Characters that go so deep that they become, quite literally, part of your world. Dickens cleverly constructs his imagery that the environment he pens out becomes almost real. Even talking about it makes me salivate over the thought of reading it again! I try to read it at least once a year!

Number 8
Paco Rabanne ‘Ultraviolet’
For years, Ultraviolet has been my signature aftershave and it remains unrivalled in that title. I love the idea of it being focused on being revolutionary & technological. PR describes it as a “futuristic lively scent full of new sensations.”
Its top notes are Black Pepper and ambergris. Its middle notes are Russian Coriander and Italian Mint and its bottom notes are Indonesian patchouli and oak moss giving it that woody, sensual and confident aura. Just like me. :)

Number 7
Egyptian Cotton Fresh Bed sheets
I’m not trying to sound like a Diva. That's absolutely not what this one is about. I wonder if you’ve ever been in a Hilton Hotel in one of their deluxe rooms. In every deluxe room or suite, Hilton lovingly dress their bed in fresh Egyptian Cotton that just pours over your skin coldly in hot weather, and warmly in cool weather. Either way they’re just superbly refreshing, clean, and pristine. Hand in hand with Duck feather pillows (which aren't in my top 10, but defo in my top 20) you just can’t not want to go to bed.

Number 6
Eton Mess
The first food entry in my top ten sits beautifully in a heaped mess of sheer deliciousness. Eton Mess is a traditional English dessert consisting of a mixture of strawberries, pieces of meringue and cream, which is traditionally served at Eton College's annual cricket game against the students of Winchester College. It’s just made to be lustfully drooled over.

Number 5
My Blackberry
I don’t think i honestly could do without this little item. It services my every requirement communicationally and is so devilishly clever that it throws up a new surprise every day. There's always a technique, a button, an app, a sound, a tone that you never knew about. There's always a feature, infact there are many features, that you will never use, but love to have. Its a little briefcase, filing cabinet and oh…a telephone all at the same time. Fabulous. Well done RIM.

Number 4
The Preachers Wife

The Preachers Wife–Scene.
The first movie of the list, and in its rightful place at Number 4 in my favourite things list. The story is simple, and it reflects my life story a little. A ministers church is failing, his marriage is failing, his life is falling apart in front of him and he reaches for the only thing left. Something he talks about all the time. He reaches for the mercy of our Lord to save him, save his church and save his soul again. The Lord sends a messenger to revive this broken man and his life. In doing so, he transforms him into a vibrant evangelical preacher, and puts him at the helm of a thriving Christian community. Belter! I’ve included my favourite scene. Just for the nostalgia.

Number 3
Rose and Lemon Turkish Delight (Lokum)

Turkish delight was created for an Ottoman Sultan who wanted something sweet to chew on throughout the hot middle eastern summers that wasn’t chocolate. He sent one of his cooks to come up with a recipe and lo and behold he invented what the Turkish call Lokum. In English, we have Turkish delight. I think the English translation describes it perfectly and i have no need to elaborate. Nuff said.

Number 2
E=MC2 Album

I have been a huge Mariah Carey fan for years. I love every single one of her albums, but i have never been able to surpass my favourites albums list that with this 2009 effort. She absolutely excels herself in the album in every way, whistles in and out of all of her musical registers. Amazing record. Stand out tracks are: Touch my Body, Cruise Control, I stay in Love and I Wish you Well. Check it out.

Number 1
Doublju Clothing

Doublju is a recent addition to my top 10, but my far, my favourite. Ever since i was a young boy flickering through the pages of Vogue, GQ and Cosmo i always dreamt of having a unique style and fashion sense. Doublju is a South Korean Designer label, one that is held with very high regard in China, Japan and Hong Kong. The style of clothing is trim, fitted and different from the norm. They’re collection is superb and i dream of the day they open up a boutique in the UK. That would just compliment our fashion industry marvellously. One selfish downside though: i wouldn’t be the only individual dressing male around. The best thing about this label being abroad is that nobody i know has these kinds of clothes. That is exactly why its so valuable.
